Alcohol could helps heart surgery patients
Reserach by Dr Mochly-Rosen of Stanford University has shown through studies of rats, that the equivalent of two drinks reduced the damage induced by a heart attack by 70%. The research has implications for those facing open heart sugery when heart damage is a serious risk. Alcohol was found to stimulate an enzyme called epsilon protein kinase C in the rats, which protects the heart from damage caused when blood flow stops.
